5 Ways to Turn Your Hiring Process Into Measurable Analytics

December 13, 2016

This is an Infographic

I see two huge opportunities for HR Recruiters and Hiring Managers in 2017.

One is moving your reference checking online (see http://www.assess.co.nz/reference-checking ) and the other, analyzing data in the post-hiring period to measure hiring impact.

The latter is very rarely done and this leaves hiring managers unaccountable for bad hires. It is also a missed opportunity to collect and apply usable data for the next hiring round. You don’t have to be a Business Continue reading

Probably the only thing a CV will tell you is how good a writer the candidate is (or someone else!).

Here’s some frightening statistics (albeit US based) from Statistic Brain.

Their research shows that 53% of CVs contain falsifications. This figure is in keeping with other research I have seen that goes as high as 68%.

Are You Still Flogging a Dead Horse?

October 7, 2016

This is a Podcast – 6 Minutes

Every week I talk to organisations who are struggling with their recruitment process (usually there isn’t one!), trying to avoid hiring their next personal grievance.  Or, others who are trying to manage their way around a couple of non-performers or extremely difficult employees (they originally hired the wrong person!).

I love these challenges, because the recommended courses of action are easy, inexpensive and get results! However, in many cases these organisations find Continue reading

5 Best Hiring Practices – How to Turn the Unpredictable into Predictable

September 21, 2016

This is an Infographic.

Just the mere mention of the word makes you a little uncomfortable, doesn’t it? Let’s use it in a few sentences:

“That car’s performance is unpredictable.”

“The dog’s behavior is unpredictable.”

There’s nothing feel good about any of these. How about this one?

“It’s unpredictable how the new hire will do.”

No hiring manger wants to hear this, but what can be done to  Continue reading
